Lead

The FAA’s fiscal 2026 controller-trainee hiring figure is the one the 5 October NBAA daily calls a record: 2,235 hired, and more than 1,300 graduated from the academy. Hiring fills a training pipeline. It does not, on the facts in that digest, change tomorrow’s flow program. The same daily notes that CBP’s Mobile Passport Control app is now available at nearly 40 general aviation airports.

What the hiring figure says

The digest frames 2,235 trainee hires and academy graduations above 1,300 as record trainee hiring for fiscal 2026. It does not publish a remaining shortage, a facility-by-facility assignment list, or a date when delay programs should ease.

For trip planning, keep the delay and flow assumptions that the operator and the flight plan actually support. A hiring headline is evidence that the agency is moving people into training. It becomes an operational change only when the facility in question is staffed differently on the day of the flight.

Mobile Passport at general aviation airports

CBP’s Mobile Passport Control app is now available at nearly 40 general aviation airports. For an international charter arrival, that is a passenger-handling option at participating fields, and it remains a CBP process.

Confirm the arrival airport is on the current CBP list before telling a client the app will be accepted there. “Nearly 40” is the count in the digest. The participating set can change, and a field that handled the last trip may not be on the list for the next one.

Hangars at Andover-Aeroflex

Lawmakers, including Rep. Josh Gottheimer, a New Jersey Democrat, are pushing back on hangar demolition and evictions at Andover-Aeroflex (12N), also referred to in the digest as Sussex County Airport.

The item is a local airport-access dispute. It is not a notice that the airport has closed. Brokers with based aircraft or a regular stop there should ask the operator whether ramp or hangar plans for upcoming trips have changed.

What Jet Intelligence readers should take away

Use 2,235 trainees and more than 1,300 academy graduates as the FAA’s fiscal 2026 pipeline print, and keep operational buffers tied to the flight you are actually selling. For international general aviation arrivals, check Mobile Passport airport by airport. For 12N, ask the operator about hangar and ramp status before assuming the usual parking.
